Recent Events

Here are some pictures of recent events in the Diocese.

The First is the Priesting of Rev Clare Caley at St Michael and All Angels, Inverness. Clare is serving her curacy at St John’s and St Michael’s. The Priest in Charge Rev Canon John Cuthbert and Bishop Mark are also in the picture.

The next picture is of Bishop Mark with Joe Morrow his new Chancellor and Sarah Hills, installed as Honorary Canon and Canon Reconciler. Joe is also the Lord Lyon and Sarah is Canon of Reconciliation at Coventry Cathedral.

St Mary’s Ullapool celebrated the 50years since the Episcopal Mission was restarted in Ullapool. In the picture there is Rev Donald Strachan who was the Itinerant Priest in the Highlands at the time.

The next picture is taken at Choral Evensong in the Cathedral when we installed Deborah Mundy as the President of the Diocesan Mothers Union and enrolled Sarah and Catriona into the Cathedral Choir,

The Scottish Episcopal Institute has begun a new training programme. Mixed Mode training gives the training while the student is living and working within a church community. One of the first in Scotland is Jamie Wright who is placed at the Cathedral in Inverness. Bishop Mark prayed over her as she entered into this new training. If you see Jamie around the Cathedral please say hello.

At the same service we welcomed Most Reverend Kay Galsworthy, Archbishop of Perth, Australia. Archbishop Kay who was in Inverness for a wedding, preached at the 11.00am Eucharist. It was a delight to welcome her as we strengthen Anglican Communion links.

Bishop Mark and Jane spent some time at The Crask Inn, looking at the developments taking place. The evening proved to be a busy one and +Mark relived his earlier life by helping out.

Ordinations are always a delight and we had another one in the Diocese when Rev Ellie Charman was Ordained Deacon in the Cathedral on the 15th of September. Ellie is serving her title in Caithness. The Preacher (pictured here) was Rev Tembu Rongong, Rector of St Philip and St James’s, Edinburgh, where Ellie did her placement. Tembu also runs the annual Provincial Youth Camp at Glenalmond

The role of a Deacon is closely linked to the Bishop and it was good to watch as +Mark and Ellie shared the liturgy at the Ordination.

The final image in this brief run through the last couple of months is the Confirmation of Fiona Murray at St Andrew’s, Tain. This was a lovely service with lots of joy and at times laughter.

If you have any pictures of events in the diocese please send them to the diocesan office so that they can also be shared through the Website.
